'''4. The Street With Two Names''' There is a street in the north part of town that has two names, and each is correct as to certain portions of it. Park Addition to Miles City was platted in the year 1883, and an amended plat was filed in 1885. This addition includes that 40 acre tract which extends a quarter of a mile north and a quarter of a mile west of the convent corner. The second street west of Montana Avenue in this addition is designated as CARLAND STREET on each of these plats. It was named for two men by the name of Carland, each of whom at one time had an interest in Park Addition. These men lived in Bismarck, North Dakota. However, when Baker Addition (which lies north of Park Addition) and Eligin Park (which lies north of Baker Addition) were platted the engineer in making these plats called the extension of Carland Street a different although similar name, GARLAND Street, spelling the name with a "G" instead of a "C". Thus, folks who live in the 500, 600, 700 and 800 blocks, live on CARLAND STREET, and those who live in blocks starting with the 900 block live on GARLAND Street.
