Joseph Eichhorn was born in Philadelphia, PA [[8 Jul 1848]]. He lived in Iowa in from at least 1869 to at least 1878, when he married [[Emma C. Campbell]].

1881 Eichhorn and his wife and son [[Arthur Eichhorn]] arrive in Miles City. They are on the first train carrying passengers to arrive in [[Glendive]]. The men of the party go overland in horse drawn wagons, driving stock, while women and children take the steamboat [[F. Y. Bachelor]] up the Yellowstone to Miles City. Takes up homestead two miles east of Miles City "along present road to Country Club" (probably Haynes Ave), raising stock between Miles City and [[Log Creek]].
